Renovation: theory and practice

In a contribution to the June issue of De Architect on the theme of renovation Rick Wessels defines the theoretical framework of renovation and explores three recent project. With the stagnation of the new build production attention shifts towards the mprovement of the existing housing stock. This turns renovation into an interesting architectural task in which the relation between existing and new parts have to be formulated again and again. Rick also took part in a round table conference which De Architect organized.
